Described as the musical of its generation, La La Land will be performed live on the afternoon of Saturday 26th May, with the orchestra being conducted by original composer Justin Hurwitz, who also composed music successfully for director Damien Chazelle’s previous films Guy and Madeleine on a Park Bench, and Whiplash. Winner of six Academy Awards® including Best Original Score for composer Justin Hurwitz, and Best Director for Damien Chazelle, La La Land’s reinvention of the Golden Age of Hollywood for modern times starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling received universal acclaim.

The original summer movie blockbuster, with an Academy Award®-winning score that made John Williams a household name, Jaws will be performed live on the afternoon of Sunday 27th May. Based on the best-selling novel by Peter Benchley and directed by Steven Spielberg, this masterpiece of suspense tells the tale of a small, New England seaside community terrorized by a predatory great white shark during the busiest weekend of the tourist season. Jaws became the most successful movie of all time (until the release of Star Wars two years later), and Spielberg has often credited Williams’ iconic score with much of the film’s success.

Previously announced are the weekend evening shows. Saturday 26th May’s evening audience will be treated to Francis Ford Coppola’s timeless masterpiece, 1972’s The Godfather. Starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, the tale of New York crime family rivalries has won three Academy Awards, and in 2008 was voted the greatest film ever made by Empire Magazine. The film’s seductive score by Nino Rota, including its immortal love theme, was ranked fifth in the influential American Film Institute’s list of the greatest scores ever written.

Closing Live At The Palace 2018 on the evening of Sunday 27th May will be Titanic. A uniquely familiar soundtrack that will forever be a part of cinematic history, Titanic Live sees James Horner’s epic score take centre stage with a huge orchestra, choir and Celtic musicians, whilst the film is projected on a vast HD screen.

The 1997 blockbuster, written and directed by James Cameron, became one of the most prolific movies of all time, grossing over $2 billion at the box office and winning 11 Academy Awards® including Best Picture and Best Director and more importantly, Best Original Song and Dramatic Score. d winning 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director and more importantly, Best Original Song and Dramatic Score.
