The Inbetweeners 2 scores biggest opening weekend of the year

The Inbetweeners 2 has achieved the biggest opening weekend of the year so far at UK cinemas.

The comedy sequel took Ā£12.5million at the UK box office over the weekend with Ā£2.7 million taken on its day of release last Wednesday. The opening day takings were the biggest ever for a comedy at the UK box office.

The Inbetweeners 2 is written and directed by Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, the creators of the original TV series, and stars Simon Bird, Blake Harrison, James Buckley and Joe Thomas. The new films sees Will, Simon, Jay and Neil head to Australia for more fun and shenanigans.

The first movie took over Ā£45 million at the UK box office in 2011 following the success of the show on E4 which ran for 3 series.
