Horror Channel FrightFest 2017: Day 1 preview

Horror Channel FrightFest returns to London’s Empire, Leicester Square on Thursday and it’s the biggest horror film festival the UK has to offer!

Relocating to its previous location after moving to Shepherd’s Bush in more recent years, this year’s line-up looks bigger and better than ever. The festival kicks off with the World Premiere of the brand new Chucky film, Cult of Chucky.

We’ve rounded up the films you simply can’t afford to miss on Day 1 (Thursday 24th August 2017) of this year’s Horror Channel FrightFest!

Cult of Chucky

Plot: Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic ā€œtoolā€ to facilitate his patientsā€™ group sessions – an all-too-familiar ā€œGood Guyā€ doll – a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isnā€™t crazy after all. Andy Barclay, Chuckyā€™s now-grown-up original nemesis races to Nicaā€™s aid. But heā€™ll have to get past Tiffany, Chuckyā€™s bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

Death Note

Plot: Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, You’re Next/The Guest director Adam Wingardā€™s remake follows high school student Light Turner who comes across a supernatural notebook with the power to kill any person whose name he writes in it. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, Light launches a secret crusade and begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life. Soon, the student-turned-vigilante finds himself pursued by a reclusive detective known only by the alias L and a deadly game of cat and mouse begins to end his reign of terror.

Psychopaths

Redwood
