The first trailer has arrived for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel Leatherface and it looks pretty scary stuff.
Leatherface is a prequel to 1974’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre that follows four violent teenagers as they escape a mental hospital, kidnapping a young nurse along the way and taking her on a road trip to Hell. In hot pursuit is a equally deranged lawman out for revenge after the murder of his daughter. As the four try to escape, it becomes clear that the leader amongst the bunch, Jackson Sawyer, is struggling to keep the violent demons within his mind at bay, as they, along with the horrors he encounters on the road, transform him into the chainsaw wielding monster the world will one day come to know as Leatherface.
The film stars Stephen Dorff (Blade) as Texas Ranger Hal Hartman, Lili Taylor (American Crime) as Verna Sawyer and Sam Strike (EastEnders) as Jackson Sawyer. The film is directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, and written by Seth M. Sherwood based on characters by Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel.
Leatherface is the latest instalment in the popular Texas Chainsaw Massacre series and the first new film since 2013’s Texas Chainsaw 3D, which proved to be a moderate success at the box office.
There is no confirmed UK release for Leatherface yet but in the US the film will be an exclusive DirecTV release on 21st September 2017, with a limited theatrical run and full VOD release through Lionsgate from 20th October 2017.
