The first reviews are in for the sixth instalment of the Child’s Play series Curse of Chucky.
The straight to DVD/Blu-ray release, which is available from 21st October in the UK, is said to take Chucky back to his horror roots and away from the tongue-in-cheek comedy of the previous two films. Curse of Chucky has started to screen in the US the first reviews are very positive:
‘Curse of Chucky may just be the best home video sequel since Wrong Turn 2. It’s alarmingly good, which puts pressure on Universal to answer as to why they didn’t let Mancini shoot this for theaters. Chucky fans should rejoice, though, as Curse of Chucky is clearly going to re-ignite the franchise for years to come.’ 4/5
‘Curse of Chucky is rewarding for lifelong Chucky fans…All in all, I am very happy with the return of Chucky. I just want them to make these more often. It shouldn’t be 10 years between them.’ 7/10
UK fans will get to see the Curse of Chucky for the first time on the opening night of Film4’s FrightFest on Thursday 22nd August.
