Ethan Hawke rules out Boyhood sequel

Ethan Hawke rules out a sequel to the Oscar-winning Boyhood during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show tonight.

Speaking to Jonathan he explained that working on a film for 12 years presents logistical issues for the producers:

ā€œIt was a logistic nightmare for the producers, it was. Patricia Arquette was on a TV show during that time period and she had put in her contract that whenever Boyhood wanted her she had to be released. But it was a giant headache for sure. Not just for the actors. The kids had Thanksgiving break, the kids had issues that would come up. But luckily we finished.

He then went on to explain why he wouldn’t be up for doing a sequel saying, ā€œI already worked on that movie for twelve years, I want to move on. I want to play other characters.ā€

During his interview with Jonathan, Ethan also took time to remember the late Robin Williams whom he starred with in Dead Poets Society.

ā€œEvery high has a low. He wasnā€™t an ordinary entertainer. He was a comic genius. He operated outside the box that most of us operate inside. It was very special to meet him as an 18 year old. My first real experience with acting was with somebody who is really touched. Everybody knows people who seem blessed or seem different, and that always comes at a price.ā€

The Jonathan Ross Show airs at 9.35pm on ITV tonight.
