Diego Luna directs new short Drifting

Diego Luna has gone behind-the-camera for his latest venture Drifting.

Drifting is a short film inspired and created by friends, and is part of a collaboration between Chivas Regal and Mexican arthouse production company Canana. Canana was founded by Diego along with his life-long friends Pablo Cruz and Gael Garcia Bernal and is led by Julian Levin.

The collaboration brings to life modern male friendship through two shorts, the first directed by Diego and the second by Gael.

Drifting tells the story of three life-long friends and explores themes of trust, forgiveness and acceptance.

Speaking about the project Diego Luna commented, ‘This project really interested me because the story involves this idea of an intervention, a moment of crossing a line to make your friend wake up. I think friends are the only ones that constantly cross that line and because youā€™re friends you let them and thatā€™s the beauty of it because sometimes they know what is best! That idea was interesting and I was also excited to try something new with this project, in a way itā€™s exploring a language Iā€™ve never spoken.’
