The first trailer has arrived for the upcoming Child’s Play reboot and there’s a distinct lack of Chucky in it.
After revealing a partial look at the redesigned doll, the trailer does everything it can not to reveal Chucky over its 60-second run time. Instead we get to see Aubrey Plaza as Karen Barclay, Gabriel Bateman as Andy Barclay and Brian Tyree Henry as Detective Mike Norris.
Take a look below:
From the look of the trailer the remake will take lots of elements from the original movie and add in some new scenes too. One moment that sticks out is Karen gagged and seemingly about to be hung as Andy screams.
Chucky is glimpsed at from the back and at the end of the trailer you can make out his outline and his iconic red hair. It’s interesting that the trailer doesn’t let you see him in action though and there’s no indication as to what he will sound like.
The trailer arrives following the recent news that Child’s Play creator Don Mancini is working with Syfy to develop a TV series based around Chucky. He hasn’t been a supporter of the remake and a lot of the franchise’s fans don’t seem too happy either.
Child’s Play will be released in cinemas in the US on 21st June 2019. A UK date has yet to be confirmed.
