Top 10 things to do at Secret Garden Party 2017

It’s the last ever Secret Garden Party and yes that can only mean this will be one hell of a celebration.

This year’s festival headliners are Metronomy, Crystal Fighters and Toots & The Maytals.

Outside music, Secret Garden Party has a lot to offer. This festival is immersive, which is why I have put together my Top 10 tips to have fun this year.

1. Take part

First and foremost Secret Garden Party is an immersive festival. Everything is designed to suck you in and let you liberate your soul. Whether you choose to become a gladiator, play a silly game of crocket or even take part in a conversation at the Forum, you should definitely let yourself discover any fun part of the garden.

2. Walk the catwalk

This year is the VIP year and that means you’ll be able to strut your stuff on SGP’s very own catwalk. You can also get yourself a personal assistant and bodyguards, enjoy the red carpet and any other VIP treatment you imagine.

3. Fireworks

Every year on the Saturday everyone at Secret Garden Party gathers to watch the beautiful fireworks and yes its very corny but oh my one year there was also glitter and free tickets for the next party. So the fireworks are an institution and definitely worth checking out. I have a feeling this year’s will be extra special.

4. Have a drink in the festival pub

Secret Garden Party isn’t sponsored and that is why they limit the drink you can bring. This shouldn’t make you sad and you should drink at their bar, which sits on the hill by the main stage. In past years

5. Find a secret party

It’s in the title, this festival is all about secrets and that includes secret parties. For many years the Labyrinth remained secret and was only discovered by the adventurous few but since then there have been secret forest raves hiding behind much bigger raves, secret sunflower fields, wardrobes taking you to an ice-rink and much more. Whatever it is make sure you find something that amazes you.

6. Become a naturist

The Secret Garden party has a secret little area, which is reserved to naturists, over the years I have come across them raving in the middle of the night and having the best time.

7. Enjoy the spa

If becoming a naturist is pushing it too far for you, why not instead resource your senses at the SGP spa, which is beautiful and around a man-made lake. You can shower, pamper, use the hot tubs, get a massage, yoga and much, much more in the sanctuary.

8. Have a swim

Weather and guts permitting you should try a dip in the lake. It’s in the middle of the festival so you can’t miss it and its refreshed festival goers for years. It’s also a great place to enjoy some tunes and meet you new friends!

9. Fancydress

Saturday’s at Secret Garden Party are all about fancy dress and so will this year too. This year’s theme is Sweet Dreams! So think reality TV, instafamous and superstars. It’s fascinating and impressive to watch so many people take part each year and really put in the graft!

10. Find the best rave of your life

I have mentioned the secret parties already, I have been to a few but not nearly enough. Secret Garden Party is after all about partying and that you will. Wether you choose a party in some woods, on haystacks, in the middle of a lake or in a tiny hut or choose an almighty rave you will most certainly find a place to party and dance. You will be able to dance till your heart is content and that’s a promise.

The last ever Secret Garden Party will take place between 20th to 23rd July near Huntingdon.
