Robin Windsor Strictly 2013 week 6 interview

Robin Windsor may be no longer dancing with Deborah Meaden on Strictly Come Dancing but heā€™s still a huge part of the show.

Whilst his journey in the competition may have come to an end, we will still be catching up with him every week to discuss all things Strictly.

Last weekend was the Halloween special so we chatted with Robin about the weekendā€™s best dance, find out what he would have been dancing with Deborah, and discuss the Ben Cohenā€™s mesmerising chest.

If you and Deborah had still been in the show, what would you have dance for Halloween week?

If weā€™d still been in the competition we were going to be dancing a Foxtrot to The Addams Family. Iā€™m very disappointed that we didnā€™t get to do it. However, it was great to be at the studio and I did get to dance two of the group numbers, and I was there supporting everybody.

Would you and Deborah have dressed in character and been Morticia and Gomez?

Of course we were going to be Morticia and Gomez! We were really looking forward to a bit of fancy dress but alas it never happened so we had to go out trick or treating ourselves.

The Addams Family would have been a great theme for you and Lisa during Halloween last year. You would have made a fantastic Pugsley and Wednesday wouldnā€™t you?

(Laughs) That would have been awesome! Last year for Halloween I was a geek so it would have been nice to be dressing up a bit more in Halloween form. Nevertheless I still got to be there and I still got to dress up. However I was very Iggy Pop but Iā€™m not sure if red lipstick, a sparkly lightning strike and big eyelashes are really my thing.

I must say that hair, make-up, production and costume all did such an amazing job. The Halloween special is almost the most difficult show of the year to put together and every year they go above expectation and do an amazing job.

It turns out that our prediction that the voting would right itself after your shock exit with Deborah was completely wrong. How shocked were you with the bottom two last week?

I was absolutely shocked with the bottom two yet again this week. I would never in a million years have put Abbey and Aljaz down there. It just goes to show that people thought they were safe. You have to remember that it was this week last year that Kimberley Walsh was in the bottom two and she went on to make the final. I told Abbey that just to give her a little bit of a boost, give her confidence and keep her going.

What was your favourite dance from Halloween week?

My favourite dance of the night easily goes to Artem and Natalie. First 10s of the series and well-deserved. It was an absolutely beautiful dance. I have nothing to fault with it. I thought that it was perfection at its best.

As you say it was the first 10s of the series. The judges loved it! Artem must be feeling pretty happyā€¦

Artem must be beside himself and it was totally well deserved. That was such a beautiful dance and it had everything that was required from a Viennese Waltz and more. It deserved not just two 10s, I think it deserved all four.

To score 38 out of 40 in week 6 is pretty amazing. Where do they go from here?

Obviously having a 38 so soon in the competition doesnā€™t leave them an awful long way to go. However, theyā€™re now expected to keep that up and pull out the most amazing dances every week. Artemā€™s got his work cut out to make sure Natalie comes out and produces an amazing performance week-upon-week.

One of the routines that really surprised everybody at the weekend was Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoffā€™s Paso Doble, mostly because Ben had his shirt off. It was probably his best dance yetā€¦

Kristina said to me after the dress rehearsal ā€˜what did you think of my choreography?ā€™ I said to her ā€˜what choreography?ā€™ (laughs) I had no idea what the dance was like because I was just fixated on Benā€™s chest. In the live show I actually did watch it with bigger eyes and Kristina is an exceptional choreographer. She did a brilliant job with Ben. Heā€™s come on leaps and bounds and heā€™s going to go a long way in this competition.

The studio had a few former contestants in the audience last week ā€“ Lisa Riley, Louis Smith, Kimberley Walsh and Kara Tointon. Was it good to have them back and cheering everyone on?

It was absolutely incredible to have Lisa, Louis, Kimberley and of course Kara in the audience cheering everybody on. It just goes to show how special Strictly Come Dancing was to them that they want to come back and support all the guys. I spoke to a few of them afterwards and they said how much they missed it. It does take over your life when you become part of the show. When itā€™s not there anymore you do kind of crave for it. I bet theyā€™re all wishing they could do it again.

The news has just come out that Lisa will be presenting the Strictly Come Dancing live tour this year which is fantasticā€¦

Yeah. Weā€™ll soon be finding out who will be joining the cast of the Strictly live tour in January and fingers crossed me and Deborah will be there. Weā€™d love to be dancing together again, especially for the public and because Deborah loved it so much it would be a great opportunity for her to continue her journey. Lisa Riley will be presenting the tour this year which is absolutely fantastic and sheā€™s going to bring something extra special and fun to the live tour. If you havenā€™t got your tickets then I suggest you book them now because Iā€™m sure theyā€™re going to go quite quickly.

Do you think we may see Lisa dance on the tour?

Notoriously the Strictly judges and presenter do get a little dance on the live tour. Iā€™m not sure if next year is going to be any different or the same. Youā€™ll have to book your tickets and find out!

Tune into Strictly Come Dancing tomorrow night at 6.30pm on BBC One and BBC One HD. Rewatch Natalie and Artemā€™s incredible Viennese Waltz again below:
