  1. Darth Vader says:

Is Uhtred the new Richard Sharpe? You bet. Fantastic story from Cornwell and brilliantly conflicted character played by Dreymon. BBC would be nuts to not make this whole series of books into films. Maybe someone there will take note of how much continuing revenue comes in from successful series like Sharpe.

In connection with “Last Kingdom”, I was able to see, just the first Season, Argentines and other South Americans are third class viewers, considering that in Europe, the USA and Canada plus other countries is possible to watch the Second Season, and here in BA we cannot. The show mostly filmed in some parts of England and Hungary, is from an excellent production, direction and acting. There are some historic mistakes in the reconstructions of cities and the use of uniforms of the Saxon period of English history, but in spite of this fact, what is great is the script, how the group of magnificent actors are assuming their characters, with formidable and quite convincing dialogues. The scenes of battles in general are good to very good, few flaws is what I had discovered in the First Season. I had been in London for a couple of days and I could watch a glimpse of the Second Season, which I found it great. I hope that soon and not too late, we shall enjoy in Argentine the Second Season, like the BBC and Netflix are showing in other countries. My best wishes to the entire crew and actors, they are the best in this show, excepting the “mise en scene”. Alexander Dreymon, born Alexander Doetsch, is much more than an extremely good looking dude. He is a hell of an actor, he works his character so well, that you can know that he went to a Drama School in London, and that he learned the Stanislavsky method, you can see that he assumed his role, in a magnificent and very convincing way. Alex is extremely natural, he represents his character so wonderfull, very few actors from his generation, are in position to be compared with him. He is a person, with an immense culture, obviously is crystal clear that he isn’t American, with deep roots in Southern Germany, he represents the archetype of a Central European man, fluent in German, English, French, Portuguese and with a good knowledge of other languages as well. A common friend from California told me, that he is not only a great athlete, but a fan of lots of sports, from skiing, snowboarding, surfing and driving a motorcycle at an extreme speed. Alexander is a man with lots of charisma, sympathy, perfect manners and is love by everybody, especially with those who are his fellow actors. I am fascinated with him, even on the skyrocketing of his career in the big screen like on television and soon, he will be “l’acteur à la page” in the States and Europe.
