Young Princeton graduate Richie (Justin Timberlake: In Time, The Social Network) finds himself in deep water when he realises he cannot complete his studies unless he pays off his tuition. In a bid to find money fast, he capitalises on his gambling talents, betting everything he has on an online poker site. Losing it all, Richie discovers he’s been cheated and boards a flight to the gorgeous island of Costa Rica to seek out the site’s notoriously ruthless owner Ivan Block (Ben Affleck: Argo, The Town) to get his money back.
Ivan, impressed by Richie’s ballsy approach and mathematical genius, offers him a job that promises wealth, status, women and the chance at life in a glamorous champagne-quaffing world. Lured in, Richie quickly learns that his new found fortune comes at a price when he is approached by hard-bitten FBI agent Shavers (Anthony Mackie: The Adjustment Bureau, The Hurt Locker) who pressures him to assist in bringing Ivan’s empire down.
