Gripping action thriller Child 44 comes to Blu-ray and DVD on 24th August 2015 and is available for pre-order now. Produced by Oscar nominated director Sir Ridley Scott (Alien, Thelma and Louise, Gladiator), the film features a stellar ensemble cast including Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Noomi Rapace. Child 44 mesmerised Britain’s audiences on its cinematic release, with an action-packed portrayal of murder investigations during the Stalin-era Soviet Union.
Based on the best-selling first novel of the bestselling ‘Child 44’ trilogy by Tom Rob Smith, the film follows a disgraced member of the military police, Leo Demidov (Tom Hardy – The Dark Knight Rises, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), who uncovers evidence of brutal child murders by a serial killer. Demidov has to work against the all-powerful Soviet government, who deny a murderer could exist in the communist regime’s twisted idea of ‘paradise’, in order to track down the killer before he strikes again.
Oscar nominee Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) plays General Nesterov, who joins forces with Demidov in his hunt for the serial killer, whilst Joel Kinnaman (Robocop, The Killing) appears as Wasilij Nikitin, Demidov’s arch rival. Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) gives an exceptional performance as Leo Demidov’s wife, Raisa.
