Cassadee Pope discusses her rocky road to fame

Cassadee Pope made a surprise appearance on the Main Stage last night to sing Think of You with Chris Young. Tonight Cassadee is performing a solo set on the Yamaha Music Stage and before the show she sat down with the press.

Cassadee rose to fame as a contestant on The Voice. ‘I was on The Voice in 2012. I’m so glad I chose him (Blake Shelton) as a coach and I think that helped me to win.’

Talking about Blake, Cassadee said, ‘He’s amazing. He’s exactly as he seems on television… he’s funny, he’s down to earth and humble. He treats people behind and in front of the camera the same. It’s nice to see someone stay so grounded.’

Opening up about her journey as a musician, Cassadee revealed, ‘I took voice lessons at 4 years old and I started to sing anywhere I could. I would go see rock shows and I became part of a band at 13 years old. Eventually I formed a band with my friends and we showcased for Columbia Records and got signed. I wasn’t happy with where we were so I moved to L.A. and put out an EP. That didn’t work for me but The Voice came along.’

Cassadee is currently promoting her Summer EP. ‘I wanted to choose four songs that were the best description of who I am.’

Cassadee Pope performs tonight at 8.40pm on the Yamaha Music Stage as part of C2C: Country to Country.
