Lucie Silvas was one busy lady at C2C: Country to Country this weekend, performing at various stages across the weekend. Last night she entered the main arena to perform a short set on the Yamaha Music Stage following Maren Morris’ set.
Opening up with Letters to Ghosts, the title track from her latest album, Lucie soared with her powerful vocals and the song’s catchy chorus caught on with the audience who were singing along by the final moments. After the song Lucie apologised for sounding a bit croaky but to be honest it added a slightly grittier edge to her voice that I really liked (and to be fair she still sounded better than most artists do on a good day!).
Her second song was the beautiful ballad Just For the Record. No one tells a tale of heartbreak with as much passion as Lucie does. It was a stunning moment and I have to admit I felt a little teary by the end of the song. Her vocal performance was remarkable and the song was absolutely beautiful.
For her third and final song, Lucie did a cover of The Jackson 5’s Who’s Lovin’ You. She explained that it’s obviously not traditionally Country but her twist on it was really interesting. Lucie sings from deep down in her soul and the power she showcased on the Yamaha Music Stage was captivating.
I wish I’d had the chance to see some of Lucie’s longer sets over the weekend but seeing her perform an acoustic set on the Yamaha Music Stage was pretty special. Now she’s based in Nashville we don’t see as much of her in the UK as we used to but I have a feeling we’ll get lots more opportunities to see her live on this side of the pond in the future. If you haven’t experienced Lucie live yet, then you really need to rectify that!
Set list: 1. Letters to Ghosts 2. Just For the Record 3. Who’s Lovin You? Performance Date: Sunday 12th March 2017
