Michael Rosen’s The Big Write starts on World Book Day

Never before have so many stars from the world of Children’s Literature turned up in Stratford East London! Michael Rosen will curate an extraordinary line up for Discover’s annual Literature Festival The Big Write which kicks off on World Book Day, Thursday 3rd March – Friday 11th March 2016, at Discover Children’s Story Centre and venues around Stratford.

Michael Rosen will be joined by some of the UK’s biggest, brightest and boldest children’s authors, illustrators, poets, musicians and artists. With an exciting programme of Public Events, performance, workshops and even a hip family friendly block party! Over the nine days of Discover’s The Big Write meet Michael and everyone from Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell to Steampunk Pirates Gareth P. Jones and picture book characters Maisy and Kipper!

Discover’s The Big Write programme of Public Events runs alongside Discover’s mammoth Schools Programme (for schools only) which also starts on World Book Day Thursday 3rd March with a fantastic event with Michael Rosen at the Theatre Royal Stratford East. With many more Schools Programme treats including David Baddiel (The Parent Agency) at Stratford Old Town Hall (7/3/16) and Laura Dockrill (Darcy Burdock) at Discover (9/3/16).

Highlights of the Public Events include Saturday 5th March, when Michael Rosen will be joined by Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell at Stratford Library to talk about A Great Big Cuddle, their collection of poems for the very young. The fun continues at Discover where authors A.F. Harrold (Fizzlebert Stump) and Sam Lloyd (Calm Down Boris) and poet Joseph Coelho (CBeebies’ The Rhyme Rocket; Werewolf Club Rules), will be sharing their stories – plus Michael Rosen!

Sunday 6th March is a must to come along to Discover to meet poet Paul Lyalls, author Gareth P. Jones (Steampunk Pirates) and TV presenter Cerrie Burnell (Snowflakes), and at Stratford East Picturehouse celebrate ‘20 Yucky Years’ of Horrible Science with illustrator Tony De Saulles.
