On the latest episode of Blindspot, Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) went to visit his old military academy to try and find out more about Shepherd (Michelle Hurd).
At the academy, Weller was told that Shepherd’s real name was Ellen Briggs and she used to be the Deputy Director of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. He had a flashback of their first meeting and was also told that she had anonymously funded his entire education. He previously thought it was paid for by a grant.
Searching for connections between himself and Shepherd turned up the name Sean Clarke. He used to work with Shepherd and is now in care having suffered a massive stroke. Weller paid him a visit but discovered he would only talk about baseball.
Patterson (Ashley Johnson) solved a new tattoo that led to a new threat, a farmer called Jared Wisnewski. Reade (Rob Brown) and Zapata (Audrey Esparza) went to his farm and discovered stockpiled weapons and materials to make an ANFO bomb.
Tracking Wisnewski down they discovered that he was an informant to the FBI. Weller was furious that he wasn’t informed about the off the books operation. His anger at the whole Shepherd situation took over and he was plenty annoyed at everyone.
Eventually the other farmers decided to proceed with an attack on the Bureau of Land Management. Weller and the team rushed to the scene to find the bomb. However the bomb wasn’t in the building, it was in a truck heading for it. Weller, as usual, saved the day.
Back at the FBI, Weller ordered Patterson to stop using illegal wiretaps to get information. She reluctantly agreed before showing him her latest wiretap find. It was a conversation between Clarke and Shepherd where a promotion for Weller was blocked to keep him in New York.
Weller realised that what Clarke told him earlier was a coded message about that phone conversation. He went back to see him and Clarke mentioned something called The Truman Protocol. Before Weller could find out more he and Clarke were kidnapped by Shepherd and her men.
Elsewhere in the episode, Patterson collapsed from exhaustion, Jane (Jaimie Alexander) went on a date with Oliver Kind, Roman (Luke Mitchell) found out more about his past and Reade was pressured into taking cocaine to impress his new girlfriend.
At the end of the episode, Shepherd killed Clarke in front of Weller. She left him with a knife to free himself before escaping. Before leaving she told him that they were very alike and that he will soon have no choice but to join her.
The next episode is Borrow or Rob and here’s the official synopsis:
A tattoo points the team toward a powerful collegiate secret society, but they can’t infiltrate it without the help of one of its alumni…Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer).
