Rene’s (Rick Gonzalez) backstory was revealed on the latest episode of Arrow.
A shooting at the Mayor’s office, that resulted in Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) being shot, set the team on the trail of a shooter who was out for revenge for the murder of his family during a gun violence incident.
The events led the team to discuss gun control with Rene and Curtis (Echo Kellum) on very different sides of the argument. Rene revealed that his wife was killed by her drug dealer in front of him and his daughter. The event caused him to lose custody of his daughter and feel regret for not being able to get to his gun quicker in order to save her.
Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) tracked down the shooter and Oliver (Stephen Amell) confronted him, dissuading him from killing anyone else. With the help of Rene, who is now Quentin’s (Paul Blackthorne) assistant, Oliver drafted a gun control policy for Star City.
Elsewhere in the episode Diggle (David Ramsey) convinced Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) to return to normal life and she took a job with SCPD. Curtis also vowed to help Rene get his daughter back.
The next episode of the season is The Sin-Eater. China White, Cupid and Liza Warner break out of Iron Heights and head to Star City for revenge. Meanwhile, Lance feels responsible for the prison break.
