Carrie Underwood and Ludacris release The Champion music video

Carrie Underwood and Ludacris have released the music video for her latest single The Champion.

The video premiered today on NBC’s Today Show before launching globally on YouTube. The video is directed by Jimmy Lynch and it features behind-the-scenes footage of Underwood and Ludacris recording the song alongside historic moments and footage highlighting professional athletes and everyday champions.

The song has inspired the hashtag #TheChampion and they are sharing their own champion-inspired photos and videos across social media.

The Champion was written by Underwood, Brett James, Chris DeStefano and Christopher Bridges aka Ludacris. It was produced by Jim Jonsin.

The track was originally written to open NBCā€™s Super Bowl LII. It was incorporated into NBCā€™s coverage of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Since its release, The Champion has reached number 1 in 10 countries on the iTunes Top Songs chart.

The Champion also debuted Top 5 on the all-genre Top 200 Digital Songs chart and reached No. 7 on the Spotify US Viral 50 Chart.

This week Underwood picked up her 13th ACM nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year and she was nominated for Vocal Event of the Year for The Fighter with Keith Urban.

Underwood is in the studio working on her new album, which will be released on Capitol Records Nashville.
