The Nice Guys, Me Before You, Warcraft: The Beginning and more: In cinemas this week

Stuck for what to watch at the weekend? Let Entertainment Focus help you with our handy guide to this week’s new releases. From the biggest blockbusters to the best in independent and world cinema, we’ve got it covered.

The Nice Guys

What’s it about? Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe star in this 70s set action-comedy-thriller, written and directed by Shane Black – the man responsible for some of the best buddy cop movies of all time (Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). Expect snappy dialogue, a twisty plot, plenty of violence, and a lot of laughs. This could be the sleeper hit of the summer.

Warcraft: The Beginning

What’s it about? The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. To say the early reviews have not been kind would be an understatement. Based on the World of Warcraft MMORPG, this $100m epic fantasy will do well to find an audience outside of the gaming community.

Who’s in it? Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky

His life was so full of adventure and excitement before his accident, he can’t bear to live as a quadriplegic. Can Lou convince him that life is worth living? Based on the hugely popular novel by Jojo Moyes, Me Before You is a tear-jerking drama that raises serious and sometimes controversial questions about living with disability.

Only this time, he has created some mutants of his own, in the form of Bebop and Rocksteady, the humanoid hog and rhino goons, who will be familiar to anyone who was a fan of the cartoon. To further complicate matters, Krang, the interdimensional blob has decided to invade New York. Thankfully, the Turtles have got April O’Neil, Master Splinter, and hockey-mask-wearing-vigilante-maniac Casey Jones to help them.
