The X Factor 2014: week 1 elimination predictions

The X Factor 2014 will feature a double elimination in tonight’s results show as two of the 16 acts hang up their mics, pack their bags and head home.

As always the first week of the competition was a real mixed bag with some contestants delivering the goods and some falling way short of the mark. Tonight the public vote will be revealed following performances from Taylor Swift and Pharrell Williams.

We could be in for a week 1 shocker but we’ve put together our predictions as to which acts we think will be saying goodbye to the competition tonight.

1. Stephanie Nala

There’s no polite way of saying this but Stephanie was pretty terrible last night. We completely agreed with Simon Cowell when he said Stephanie should be part of a girl group as she’s simply not strong enough to impress on her own. The song choice was completely wrong, the vocals were flatter than a pancake and there was no energy in the performance at all. We’d say she’s a sure bet to be packing her bags tonight.

2. Only The Young

Louis Walsh deserves a bit of a slap around the face for ruining Only The Young’s chances. Why on earth he let them sing a mash-up of Jailhouse Rock and Twist N Shout is beyond us and we think it’s put them in danger of going home. The squeaky clean quartet may have the vocals but there’s nothing new in their offering. Their performance was ok but compared to the rest of the competition we almost forgot they even sang.

Tune in to The X Factor results show tonight at 8.15pm to see if our predictions are right.
