The X Factor 2014 top 5 semi-final performances

Last night The X Factor 2014’s final four performed two songs in a bid to secure their place in next week’s Grand Final.

It was a night packed with emotion, tears and plenty of surprises. Fleur East actually left Mel B speechless after her second performance of the night and the Spice Girl’s face was a picture! All of the acts have done everything they can now to clinch their place in the final.

We’ve rewatched all of the performances and picked our Top 5 from the evening. Keep reading to find out who made the cut…

5. Andrea Faustini – O Holy Night

We didn’t think that Andrea had the best night last night. We weren’t all that bothered by his performance of Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball but he did entertain us with O Holy Night. We do think he over-sang it though and there was too much vocal acrobatics in places.

4. Fleur East – All I Want For Christmas Is You

The song was a little too big for Fleur but she put on a great performance as usual. It was a great start to the show though and it set things off on the right note. This performance was outshined by Fleur’s second song of the night though.

3. Lauren Platt – Story Of My Life

Lauren sang with her heart during this performance. It’s the best we’ve heard her sing in the competition and the song really resonated. Her best performance this series.

2. Ben Haenow – Please Come Home For Christmas

We loved Ben’s take on this festive classic. He definitely has the voice for this kind of song and his performance was our favourite out of all the Christmas songs last night.

1. Fleur East – Uptown Funk

Wow! Wow! Wow! Where the hell did that performance come from? Fleur performed like she’s been topping the charts for years. Hands down the best performance of the series so far and she left all of the other contestants miles behind. Incredible.

Tune in to ITV tonight at 8pm to see which act departs the competition.
