The second of the Overs stepping under our spotlight today is Fleur East.
The singer previously made it through to the live shows as part of girl group Addictiv Ladies but her time on the show didn’t last too long. During this year’s series Fleur struggled to make a lasting impression on judge Simon Cowell until she pulled it out of the bag during judges’ houses.
Now she’s gained in confidence and finally got Simon to remember who she is, Fleur could be the dark horse of the 2014 series.
Talking about getting through to the live shows Fleur says, “It’s been so emotional. I couldn’t even imagine beforehand, how it would feel if I went through. I’ve had so many knock backs, I’ve been conditioned to be disappointed. When Simon said those words, ‘I believe in you’, it was amazing.”
What does she think of her X Factor journey so far? “I had to do something special. I knew I couldn’t afford to be complacent. I knew I hadn’t done enough up until this point. I’d had a few good comments, but I wasn’t up there. I had to go in all guns blazing and that’s what I did. I really didn’t know what Simon was thinking. Up until this point I’ve thought, ‘I must not be good enough, because I’ve had so many knock backs and if I was good enough, it would have happened by now’. But that all changed today.”
Is she nervous about her makeover? “I hope they won’t touch my hair! I came into the competition with my own style. Maybe they can redo the roots or something, another colour, we’ll see. But I’m open to whatever.”
