Top 5 Strictly Come Dancing 2015 week 9 performances

Strictly Come Dancing 2015 continued last night as the show made it’s annual trip to the seaside with the remaining 8 couples dancing in Blackpool’s iconic Tower Ballroom.

Showing that the standard is so high this year, all of the couples received solid scores and it was a surprise to see Peter Andre and his partner Janette Manrara at the bottom of the leaderboard. Georgia May Foote and her partner Giovanni Pernice topped the leaderboard with their incredible American Smooth.

We’ve reviewed all of the dances from last night’s Blackpool live show and picked the 5 that we enjoyed the most.

5. Katie Derham & Anton du Beke – American Smooth

Katie Derham proved once again that Ballroom is her sweet spot and she had her second consecutive week of getting great comments and scores from the judges. We really enjoyed this classy performance and think she’ll be fine in tonight’s results show.

4. Kellie Bright & Kevin Clifton – Quickstep

Kellie and Kevin seem to flirt on the edge of greatness every week and they’ve not quite had their big moment yet this series. We’re hoping it’ll come in the next couple of weeks but their Quickstep last night was great fun and technically impressive.

3. Helen George & Aljaz Skorjanec – Charleston

Call the Midwife’s Helen George has had something of a turning point in recent weeks. She’s always been a good dancer but now she’s connecting with the audience and letting her personality shine. The moments in isolation and side-by-side were amazing.

2. Georgia May Foote & Giovanni Pernice – American Smooth

Georgia and Giovanni have a fantastic partnership and their American Smooth was irresistible. The pair have a fantastic chemistry and that carries through in every single dance they do. Classy, elegant and very, very stylish.

1. Anita Rani & Gleb Savchenko – Paso Doble

We honestly thought that Anita and Gleb were going to get the first 40 of the series with last night’s Paso Doble. It was so powerful and fierce with Anita giving her best performance yet. We think it was a little undermarked if we’re honest.

Strictly Come Dancing 2015 continues tonight at 7.15pm on BBC One as another couple leaves the competition.
