Strictly Come Dancing 2014 continued last night with the 8 remaining couples battling to secure their place in week 10 of the competition.
At this stage with the end of the competition in sight, all of the couples are hoping to make it through to the final. Last night the standard of dancing was really high with Frankie Bridge & Kevin Clifton and Jake Wood & Janette Manrara topping the leaderboard with 38 out of 40.
At the other end of the leaderboard was Steve Backshall & Ola Jordan who picked up 23 points for their disappointing Jive.
We’ve reviewed all of the performances again and selected our Top 5 from this week.
5. Pixie Lott & Trent Whiddon
We would argue that Pixie Lott’s performance wasn’t really a true Charleston but it definitely entertained. Pixie and her partner Trent Whiddon certainly danced their socks off and it was full of razzle dazzle.
4. Caroline Flack & Pasha Kovalev
Oh Caroline! If it hadn’t been for that little fall we think Caroline Flack would have been at the top of the leaderboard for her American Smooth. The performance was stunning and Pasha Kovalev really delivered on the choreography.
3. Mark Wright & Karen Hauer
Mean and moody Mark Wright was definitely one of our highlights last night. He captured the power and the aggression of the Tango. If we’re honest we thought that Mark and Karen Hauer deserved a much better score than they received.
2. Frankie Bridge & Kevin Clifton
The Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge danced a beautiful Viennese Waltz and managed to cope with the many spins that she’d struggled with in training. Kevin Clifton’s choreography was beautiful and this was a gorgeous performance.
1. Jake Wood & Janette Manrara
EastEnders star Jake Wood enjoyed a return to form last night with his hip-shaking Samba. The routine was full of energy and despite being messy in places was a whole lot of fun to watch. Janette Manrara really is a little pocker rocket isn’t she?
Strictly Come Dancing 2014 continues tonight at 7.15pm on BBC One. Tune in to find out which couple will be leaving the competition.
