Top 5 Strictly Come Dancing 2014 week 1 dances

Strictly Come Dancing returned this weekend and all 15 couples danced their first dance in a bid to impress the nation.

The standard varied wildly and the competition isn’t looking to be as close as last year’s but who knows what could happen in the coming weeks? The weekend ended with The Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge and her pro partner Kevin Clifton topping the leaderboard with 30 points.

We’ve ranked our Top 5 favourite dances from the weekend. Keep reading to find out who made the cut and let us know if you agree by leaving your comments in the usual place.

5. Mark Wright & Karen Hauer

Marky No-Moves proved to be Marky Lotsa Moves on last night’s live show with his cha cha. The judges may have criticised him for having too much energy and excitement but we think he’s going to get better and better every week. As for the ‘free willy’ Len, we enjoyed that part! Great choreography from Karen too!

4. Alison Hammond & Aljaz Skorjanec

How infectious and fun is Alison Hammond? Her The Bodyguard themed cha cha routine with Aljaz was perfection and the woman has some serious moves. Not since Lisa Riley have we seen someone prove everyone wrong so fabulously! One to watch for sure!

3. Simon Webbe & Kristina Rihanoff

The boy from Blue did good last night easily out-performing all of the other male celebs in the competition. Simon’s jive was amazing and we actually thought he should have been scored considerably higher. Kristina always gets the best out of her partners and she’s done wonders with Simon.

2. Caroline Flack & Pasha Kovalev

Who knew that Caroline Flack would be one of the show stealers this weekend? She opened Friday night’s live show and she killed it! Her partnership with Pasha is perfect and as she grows each week she could be one of the celebs to beat.

1. Frankie Bridge & Kevin Clifton

Simply stunning. Frankie put her pop gyrating behind her and reinvented herself as the Queen of Ballroom during last night’s live show. She may have been slotting training in during touring with The Saturdays but she and Kevin left us speechless with their beautiful waltz.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday night at 6.20pm on BBC One.
