Top 5 Strictly Come Dancing 2014 semi-final dances

Last night’s Strictly Come Dancing semi-final was the most tense in years.

The remaining five couples had to dance twice to secure the public’s votes and the judges’ scores. It was a night of high emotion, ups and downs, and entertaining dancing. All of the couples have done all they can now to secure their place in next week’s final.

We’ve rewatched all 10 of last night’s performances and we’ve selected our Top 5 for you. Keep reading to find out who we loved…

5. Simon Webbe & Kristina Rihanoff – Foxtrot

After a very messy Samba, Simon Webbe pulled it back with a smooth and technically strong Foxtrot. He didn’t have the strongest of nights last night but we think he’s done just enough to get through to the final next week. We have everything crossed for Simon and Kristina Rihanoff.

4. Mark Wright & Karen Hauer – Rumba

Mark Wright’s Rumba split the judges down the middle and left Karen Hauer in tears. It was criticised for not having enough basic Rumba steps by all of the judges except Craig Revel Horwood who said he loved it. We had a tear in our eye by the end and think that the judges got it wrong on this one (except Craig!)

3. Frankie Bridge & Kevin Clifton – Argentine Tango

Kevin Clifton is the King of the Argentine Tango isn’t he? His choreography for Frankie last night was absolutely stunning and it’s the best we’ve ever seen her dance. Powerful, intense and moody, we think this could be Frankie’s best performance to date.

2. Caroline Flack & Pasha Kovalev – Foxtrot

Caroline Flack had an incredible night last night. She was commended for packing intense emotion into her Foxtrot and despite criticism from Craig she scored well. Caroline and Pasha make a winning team and they could very easily win next week.

1. Caroline Flack & Pasha Kovalev – Salsa

Talk about stealing the show at the very last minute. Caroline and Pasha’s Salsa was hot, spicy and pretty much perfect. They got the first 40 of the series and the first 10 from Craig. These two are definitely the ones to beat next week.

Strictly Come Dancing 2014 continues tonight at 7.20pm on BBC One. Tune in to find out which couples will be going through to next week’s final.
