The Following executive producer/director Marcos Siega has been dishing the dirt on the showās season 2 finale and giving out some hints about the showās upcoming third season.

Talking to Give Me My Remote, Siega teased some interesting details about the showās upcoming third season. In the interview Siega confirmed that Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) wonāt be breaking out of prison in season 3 and that the new season āwonāt be about Joeā.
Fans shouldnāt worry as Joe will still be part of the series but Siega explained, āHis role will be about closing out that chapter and how that impacts Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon). And then weāre able to reinvent the show, without changing the DNA of the show.ā
Siega revealed that the create team werenāt 100% certain of the identity of the person who picked up Mark (Sam Underwood) at the end of the season: āThere are specific ideas. I hate to say we know for sure, because ā I could say yes, but things change. I like the idea that we are now going to sit down and see if thatās the best way to go.ā
Other juicy details revealed are that Claire (Natalie Zea) wonāt have an active role in season 3, the show wonāt turn into a buddy show where Ryan and Joe work together, and Mark will be back.
