The Following will return in the US in January for its second season, and we’re hoping it’ll air soon after here in the UK.
With the release of the first season boxset today on Blu-ray and DVD, we’ve gathered all the juicy details about what’s in store for season two.
If you haven’t seen season one or don’t want any spoilers then we recommend you stop reading now as we don’t want to spoil any of the fun for you.
- Kevin Bacon, James Purefoy, Shawn Ashmore and Valorie Curry will reprise their roles as Ryan Hardy, Joe Carroll, Michael Weston and Emma Hill respectively.
- Ryan Hardy lives! As does Joe Carroll it would seem although we’re interested to see how the writers get round the season one finale.
- Natalie Zea will be back as Claire Matthews but it’s not known for how long or if she survived the season one finale
- Ryan Hardy’s niece will be making an appearance with 90210’s Jessica Stroup signing on as a series regular.
- Popular star Leslie Bibb will star as housewife Jana Murphy who will be in some way associated with Joe Carroll.
- Lee Tergesen, best-known for his role in gritty prison drama Oz, will appear in the seventh episode of the season as family man Kurt Bolen who comes into contact with Ryan Hardy.
- Former 24 star Sprague Grayden will star in a recurring role but her character and number of episodes haven’t been revealed.
- Gregg Henry, who played Hollis Doyle in Scandal, will play the role of Dr. Strauss, a doctor who may have a dark secret.
- Other new cast additions include Tiffany Boone as Mandy – one of Carroll’s new followers, James McDaniel who will play an FBI agent, Valerie Cruz who will play a cop, Boss’ Connie Nielson who will play a love interest for Ryan and Dexter actor Sam Underwood who will be a baddie.

The Following returns in the US on 20th January 2014 with the UK transmission TBC. The Following: The Complete First Season is available on Blu-ray and DVD now.
