The Cutkelvins and Lloyd Macey leave The X Factor 2017

The X Factor second leg of this year’s semi-final aired tonight and the remaining contestants Grace Davies, Kevin Davy White, Lloyd Macey, Rak-Su, and The Cutkelvins sang in order to secure a place on next week’s final.

Unfortunately for two acts tonight, Lloyd Macey and The Cutkelvins it was the end of the road.

The trio picked a big dance tune in hope that it would put them through to the final. The Cutkelvins put a their own spin on the track I thought this was one of their best performances on the live show but the competition was tough and the trio did not secure enough votes to remain on the show.

What the judges said: Louis agreed that this was the best performance of theirs and pleaded for the public to vote for them. Sharon said it was a tough night but that the band was now in a good place and hoped they would make the final. Nicole loved how the song was revamped and thought that the singing was good but did not know if it was enough to put them through to next weeks grand final.

You can relive their performance below:

It was also the end of the road for Lloyd, who I thought had picked a good song tonight. I thought Coldplay’s ballad showed off his incredible range and I loved his rendition. It started of soft and ended with a big crescendo.

What the judges said: Simon said the performance was ‘annoyingly good’ and made him happy and believed the song would put him through to the final. Nicole also said that she respected what he did but that he was against big artists.

You can watch Lloyd perform Coldplay’s Fix You below:

The X Factor grand final will air on ITV next Saturday night.
