Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) came face-to-face with her mother Maya (Khandi Alexander) at the end of the latest episode of the hit thriller series.
Prior to that Olivia had to deal with client Josie Marcus (Lisa Kudrow) who withdrew from the primary after discovering that her daughter Candace (Sally Pressman) staged a break-in to try and win them favour. Olivia also had a one-on-one with Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) in Vermont where he showed her the house he built for them.
Elsewhere Maya escaped from Rowan (Eli Pope) after chewing her wrists and ensuring she had to be moved to a hospital. Mellie (Bellamy Young) and Cyrus (Jeff Perry) put their plan into action to get Daniel Langston (Jack Coleman) to hit on James (Dan Bucatinsky) but it backfired when James discovered what was going on and actually slept with him.
The next episode of the season is YOLO. Olivia’s childhood memory leads her to a disturbing realisation.
