There will also be comedy courtesy of Simon Amstell, Frankie Boyle, Doc Brown, Jimmy Carr, Noel Fielding, Eddie Izzard, Jason Manford and Russell himself.

Other acts are due to be announced in the lead-up to the concert.

The night will be aired on BBC Three with Jo Whiley catching all the backstage action on BBC Radio 2. Highlights will also be aired on BBC One.

Kevin Cahill, CEO at Comic Relief says: ā€œComic Relief has funded work tackling substance abuse for many years. We were thrilled when Russell Brand offered to highlight the issue and raise funds to help tackle the problem. Itā€™s a perfect use of his celebrity profile to front the Give It Up for Comic Relief gig and work behind the scenes to put it all together. He has played a blinder.ā€
