Reece Dinsdale awarded for Arts and Entertainment

Yorkshire-born actor Reece Dinsdale, famous for his roles in Home To Roost, Threads and Coronation Street, has been awarded the 2014 Yorkshire Award for Arts and Entertainment.

The award follows Dinsdale’s highly acclaimed performance as Alan Bennett in Untold Stories, produced by the West Yorkshire Playhouse last season. Entertainment Focus gave the production a five star review, which can be read here.

Reece Dinsdale said: “What an honour! To be rewarded for the whole body of my work by my own people gives me an enormous feeling of pride. For it to come hot on the heels from playing Alan Bennett, Yorkshire’s favourite son, at my favourite theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse, is just the icing on the cake. I am deeply grateful.”

The West Yorkshire Playhouse’s Artistic Director James Brining adds: “It was a natural choice to approach Reece Dinsdale for the role of Alan Bennett in West Yorkshire Playhouse’s regional premiere of Untold Stories. Not only one of Yorkshire’s great and versatile actors, he has a special connection to our theatre having starred in its opening production in 1990. He rose to the challenge of playing Yorkshire’s most iconic writer in a season of plays in his home city, and his performance was praised by audiences and critics alike. We’re thrilled he’s won a Yorkshire Award in recognition of his work.”
