Heineken invite you to Open You World in a new video

Can people with differing beliefs find common ground? That’s the question Heineken asks in new video Open Your World.

The video shows strangers involved in an experiment where they meet for the first time. They know absolutely nothing about one another and they have no idea what to expect from the experiment.

The four strangers are paired then filmed as they ask a series of questions and get to know one another. Once they are feeling comfortable in each other’s company, they are shown videos that each of them filmed prior to meeting.

The videos reveal something about the strangers, putting them at odds with one another over their beliefs. Two men are confronted with a potential fallout over climate change while a man and a woman deal with the revelation that one of them is transgender.

After the videos have been shown, the strangers are invited to sit down together to share a beer and have a discussion. They are also given the option to walk away from the experiment should they not wish to progress any further.

What follows is heartening, especially when we live in a time where the country is more divided than ever. Both sets of strangers accept the invitation to share a beer and they sit down to talk through their differences and explain their perspective.

With Open Your World, Heineken is highlighting that engaging in conversations about your differences and seeing things from another person’s perspective can help to overcome the differences that divide us a society. In a world where it’s all too easy to jump on social media and have your say, people often don’t take the time to step into someone else’s shoes.
