Banshee season 2 Armies of One recap

We should have learned by now that when a happy ending is in sight for anyone on Banshee thereā€™s a curveball waiting round the corner to put a big old stop to it.

If you havenā€™t seen the latest episode of Banshee then stop reading now so we donā€™t spoil anything for you. If you have seen it and want to relive all of the action keep reading.

In tonightā€™s episode we were introduced to, and saw the back of, English assassin Quentin (Andrew Howard) who arrived in Banshee in a blaze of violence looking for Jason Hood (Harrison Thomas). When his aide was shot by Sugar (Frankie Faison) when he tried to confront Jason, Quentin took another tack. Sitting outside the police station he waited for Lucas (Antony Starr) and the two shared a conversation that essentially saw the two men agree not to kill each other and Lucas offered Quentin money to leave town and leave Jason alone.

Was that ever really going to happen? Of course not this is Banshee! Instead Quentin kidnapped Jason and was in the midst of leaving town with the boy in the boot when Lucas stopped him. A fight ensued in the middle of the road and after a couple of near misses, Lucas held Quentinā€™s head up so he would get decapitated by a lorry that was screeching to a halt trying to avoid the men.

With Quentin dead, Lucas saved Jason and took him back to the motel. The two agreed Jason would leave the next day and Lucas gave Jason the watch he took from the boyā€™s dead fatherā€™s body. Looking like Jason was going to escape Banshee with his life intact, the boy went to Sugarā€™s bar for a nightcap and bumped into Rebecca (Lili Simmons). Despite being warned away from her by Sugar, Jason took Rebecca back to his room and two had sex. Unfortunately for Jason they were interrupted in the middle of it when Kai (Ulrich Thomsen) and Clay (Matthew Rauch) burst into the room and Clay garrotted him. Kai then warned Rebecca that sheā€™s either with him or against him and took her away from the scene leaving Clay to clean up.

During the crime scene clean up, Clay had some memories of being whipped and was distracted enough to not pick up the watch Lucas gave to Jason. As the watch lay on the floor of the room and Clay left, you just know thatā€™s going to be the tell-tale sign for Lucas that Jason never left town.

Elsewhere in the episode Alex (Anthony Ruivivar) made a deal with Kai to prevent being ousted as the Chief of the Kinaho tribe. It seems that Kai is going to target the council members who will vote against Alex and presumable kill them. How long before Alex regrets that deal?

The Hopewell family continued to disintegrate in the wake of Carrieā€™s (Ivana Milicevic) betrayal. Deva lost her temper behind-the-wheel whilst taking a driving lesson endangering the lives of her bitchy classmates. Gordon (Rus Blackwell) enlisted the help of Brock (Matt Servitto) to do some digging on Lucas then spent a lot of the episode getting drunk and enjoying lap dances from strippers. When he returned home he was found on the floor by Deva (Ryann Shane) who tried to carry him to bed but was interrupted by her brother Max (Gabriel Suttle). The desperate state of the family forced Deva to reluctantly appeal to her mother for help.

Lucas enjoyed another passionate evening with Deputy Siobhan (Trieste Kelly Dunn) but we canā€™t help feeling that his heart is elsewhere now that Carrie is back in town.

The episode came to a close with Job (Hoon Lee) returning from New York with a revelation for Lucas. The diamonds heā€™d gone to sell, the same diamonds Lucas went to prison for stealing, were fake and Rabbit (Ben Cross) had fooled them.

Banshee continues on Monday at 10.15pm on Sky Atlantic HD.
