The BAFTA award-winning Toast of London has finally returned to our screens for a third series (Wednesday 10.30pm on Channel 4). Starring Matt Berry, we follow the trials and tribulations of Steven Toast as he navigates his way through the acting world.
Matt Berry co-writes the show with Arthur Mathews, a stellar name in classic TV comedy – Father Ted, Big Train, The Fast Show and Brass Eye to name but four.
The show has a great ensemble – Shazad Latif, Tim Downie, Doon Mackichan, Robert Bathurst and Harry Peacock – all delivering memorable supporting characters. This series, Toast also welcomes the likes of Jon Hamm and Brian Blessed in cameo roles.

5. Simply put… Matt Berry is in it.
We’d watch anything that Matt Berry is in. Appearing in some of the finest comedy from the past 10 years – Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, The Mighty Boosh, Snuffbox and stealing all of his scenes in The IT Crowd, Matt Berry is one super-talented guy. Throw in his brilliant music career and it’s clear to see why Toast of London is such a rip-roaring success.
4. Clem Fandango & Danny Bear
‘Yes, I can hear you Clem Fandango…’ words that never fail to raise belly laughs! Steven Toast’s constant struggle to deal with these hilarious hipsters in the studio makes for one of the most consistent and funny segments of the series. Massive praise needs to go to Shazad Latif (Clem Fandango) and Tim Downie (Danny Bear) for their constant creativity here – their scenes will leave you in stitches!
3. Steve Toast’s unique voice
Matt Berry is no stranger to great voice-over work (he’s the voice of Absolute Radio in case you hadn’t noticed). Playing Douglas Reynholm in The IT Crowd showcased just how unique his vocal delivery is, and Toast of London certainly enjoys utilising this talent to great comedic effect.
2. Ray (bloody) Purchase
Well, well, well… Steven’s arch-nemesis is a joy to watch, with their mutual hatred for one another being a big highlight of the series. The fact that Steven is sleeping with Ray’s wife just adds even more spice to the mix. Harry Peacock does a magnificent job here.
