C2C: Lady Antebellum spotlight

Our C2C: Country To Country spotlights continue today as we shine it on Day 2 headliners Lady Antebellum.

The chart-topping trio will take to the stage following Jason Aldean’s performance and will close this year’s festival. Lady Antebellum will top off a packed weekend of live country music that is sure to be a highlight in any music lover’s calendar.

Lady Antebellum – Hillar Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood – have risen up to the top of the Country Charts since they debuted in 2007. The trio scored their first number single I Run To You in 2009 and it was the third single to be lifted from their self-titled album. That success paved the way for their international breakthrough and later that same year they scored a monster hit with Need You Now.

Need You Now, from the album of the same name, gave the band their first UK hit and saw the parent album top the charts in the US and enter the Top 10 here in the UK. In their career to date Lady Antebellum has scored 9 US Country Airplay number 1s, 4 US Country Chart number 1s, and four number 1 albums.

In 2014 Lady Antebellum released their fifth studio album 747. Lead single Bartender nicely introduced the record and shot to the top of the Country Airplay charts in the US.

ā€œWe unanimously knew that our album title had to be 747,ā€ said Lady Aā€™s Hillary Scott. ā€œThe track itself has this pushing, driving spirit about it that sums up our attitude right now. We are pushing ourselves as a band and as songwritersā€¦taking ourselves out of our comfort zone and not taking ourselves too seriously. There’s an urgency and an energy to it that we’ve never released before.”

For the album Lady Antebellum worked with producer Nathan Chapman.

ā€œWe had the opportunity to write with some new songwriters and really dig for outside songs that were songs we wish weā€™d written,ā€ says Dave Haywood. ā€œAs we took them into the studio, we changed our approach and challenged ourselves to try some new things that were outside of what weā€™d done before.”

Lady Antebellum are renowned for their prowess as a live act and have toured the world over. They previewed 747 last year in an exclusive gig at Brooklyn Bowl in London. Touring has given the band the inspiration for some of the tracks on the album.

“Being on the road and writing new songs, we found ourselves wanting more of that high energy material,” Haywood remembers. “We came up with songs like Bartender and Long Stretch of Love, with that big feeling that really hits you hard in an arena.”

The band’s headline performance at C2C is sure to be memorable and there’s no doubt that they are one of the big draws for this year’s festival.

Lady Antebellum will perform at C2C: Country To Country 2015 at Londonā€™s O2 Arena on Sunday 8th March 2015. For more information and tickets head over to http://www.c2c-countrytocountry.com. Watch the video for Lady Antebellumā€™s I Did With You below:
