The Learning Team at City Varieties Music Hall has announced three exciting new placement opportunities for university students. The placements are ideal for students interested in the history of theatre and music hall, who would enjoy exploring old theatre programmes and photographs, or are considering a career in education, archives or museums.
Catherine Callinan, Learning Officer at City Varieties, says ‘this is a great opportunity to gain an insight into life at a modern performance venue, and a chance for students to explore the theatre’s fascinating archives’.
Students will have the opportunity to curate an exhibition in a showcase at City Varieties, telling one aspect of the building’s history using original archives and objects. A second group is needed to research, plan and deliver a family activity during Heritage Open Day weekend, exploring the building’s history. Finally, there is the chance for a group to research and design a re-hang of the pictures in the iconic Circle Bar at the Varieties, including signed headshots, playbills and pantomime cast shots.
The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday 28th February 2014. Visit www.leedsgrandtheatre.com/Online/Placements for more information.
