Martyn Ellis joins Wicked cast

Martyn Ellis to join the cast of Wicked as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz from Monday 17th February is has been announced.

Ellis will replace Sam Kelly who has withdrawn from the production due to ill health. Over his career to date Ellis has received a Whatsonstage Award for his performance as Nicely Nicely Johnson in Michael Grandage’s acclaimed production of Guys and Dolls with Ewan McGregor. He’s also starred in hit shows including One Man, Two Guvnors, My Fair Lady, The Lion King and Les Miserable.

His TV work includes the role of Friar Tuck in The New Adventures of Robin Hood and Big Al in new Sky 1 drama The Smoke.

Ellis will join the current cast of Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba), Savannah Stevenson (Glinda), Jeremy Taylor (Fiyero), Sue Kelvin (Madame Morrible), Paul Clarkson (Doctor Dillamond); Sam Lupton (Boq), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose), Emma Hatton (Standby Elphaba) and Sophie Linder-Lee (Standby Glinda).
