TV personality and dancer Louie Spence will join Jason Manford in the brand new UK tour of The Producers.
Based on Mel Brooks’ Academy Award winning movie, The Producers is a musical comedy that has had huge success on both Broadway and the West End. The new production will open its UK tour in March 2015 and Louie will play Carmen Ghia, Roger De Bris’ flamboyant assistant, until Saturday 2 May.
Over his career Louie has danced alongside Take That, Spice Girls, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder to name but a few. He became a household name thanks to Sky 1 series Pineapple Dance Studio and was a judge on ITV’s Dancing on Ice. He also regularly presents morning TV.
Louie said, “I cannot wait to get into rehearsal and in theatres across the country with The Producers, I’m hugely excited to be part of the company and to be working with such an incredible creative team.”
Jason Manford who will play the role of downtrodden accountant Leo Bloom said; “I’ve worked with Louie a few times and I literally couldn’t think of a performer more suited to play Carmen Ghia. He’s a fantastic dancer and he knows how to get the laughs.”
The synopsis for The Producers is: Impoverished by a string of flops, New York producer Max Bialystock recruits timid accountant Leo Bloom to help him pull off Broadway’s greatest scam. Together they aim to produce the worst show ever and run away to Rio with millions, but they learn that Showbusiness can always find a way to kick you in the teeth.
