Ellen Kent Productions is to return to Woking’s New Victoria Theatre in March with two iconic operas.
Puccini’s Tosca and Bizet’s Carmen will be performed on Friday 22 and Saturday 23rd March.
Tosca, is a heady mixture of true love, torture and treachery set against the beautiful backdrop of Rome. With spectacular sets and costumes this popular opera is sure to delight with its tender, moving arias. Celebrated international soprano Elena Dee stars in this exciting new traditional production on Friday 22 March which is sung in French with English surtitles.
Carmen, often referred to as the most seductive opera ever written, stars international mezzo soprano Nadia Stoianova. Carmen is the story of a bewitching gypsy girl whose tantalising beauty lures a soldier to desertion and ultimately leads to her own murder. This traditionally staged, dazzling new production, set in Seville and reflecting a Goya painting, with fountains, flowers, orange trees and even a rescue donkey, guarantees an evening of passion and romance with unforgettable melodies. Bizet’s favourite is sung in French with English surtitles on Saturday 23 March.
