Ballet auditions – 100 young dancers required

Tuesday 25th February will be a very exciting day for young dancers from Kent.

The award-winning English Youth Ballet (EYB) will be holding auditions to find 100 male and female dancers (aged 8 – 18) for roles in their haunting, full-length production of Giselle which will play at The Churchill Theatre, Bromley.

Janet Lewis started EYB 16 years ago and it is now one of the largest British ballet companies and is a winner of The Stage Award. As a former dancer with the Royal Ballet and English National Ballet, she has danced all around the world and with such ballet stars as Margot Fonteyn.

There will be two auditions at The Churchill Theatre, High Street, Bromley, Kent, BR1 1HA. Dancers will take part in a 1.5hrs ballet class on the stage and their parents are invited to watch. The audition is just a taste of what is to come for the successful dancers. EYB Director Janet Lewis says “dancing with EYB is all about performance experience”.

The auditions for the age categories are as follows:
Audition 1 (dancers 8 -11) 16:30 – 18:15
Audition 2 (dancers 12-18) 18:45 – 20:30

It is possible to attend on the day but it is advisable to pre-register to avoid queuing.

Dancers and parents requiring more information please call EYB on 01689 856747 or email [email protected].

EYB’s stunning production of Giselle will be presented at The Churchill Theatre for 3 performances from 15 – 16 August 2014. Successful dancers will join EYB and experience the life of a professional ballet dancer. EYB have 8 beautiful, international principal dancers who dance the principal roles in their productions (from companies including the Royal Ballet and English National Ballet). These dynamic artists inspire the young dancers by coaching and performing alongside them. The cast of Giselle will rehearse intensively for 11 days.
