Top 5 The X Factor 2016 week 3 live show performances

Diva Week rolled around on The X Factor 2016 and the contestants really had to step it up to pull off some of the biggest songs ever recorded.

Not everyone impressed the judges but there was a good variety of styles and songs to choose from. Honey G looked out of place as usual and I don’t really think her song reflected the theme of the week.

After watching, and rewatching, all of the performances I’ve picked the five that I thought were the best.

Find out who made the cut…

5. Emily Middlemas – How Will I Know

Emily’s version of Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know was very much based on Sam Smith’s version but she still did a great job. I kind of agree with Nicole that Emily’s not had her big performance yet but she’s singing songs that suit her distinctive and sweet voice.

4. Relley C – Natural Woman

Relley may have battled illness all week but she did a damn good job of a very difficult song. I don’t agree with Simon’s critique that she’s a bit safe and I think she’s the most consistent singer in the competition.

3. Matt Terry – I’ll Be There

Matt gets better and better every week. Taking on a Jackson 5 classic, especially when it’s been covered by Mariah Carey, is a brave thing to do but Matt did a great job. His falsetto is his sweet spot and he took it to new levels with this performance.

2. Saara Aalto – It’s Oh So Quiet

Finally Saara showed us what she can really do. The song choice was perfect, the production was perfect and her vocals were perfect. If this doesn’t keep her out of the bottom two tonight then nothing will!

1. Gifty Louise – Lay Me Down

I’ve not been a fan of Gifty, at all actually. I didn’t get the fuss about her week 1 performance of Fifth Harmony’s That’s My Girl and last week was gimmicky. This weekend though she felt like a real contender and delivered an emotional performance that was the highlight of the night. A real surprise.
