The X Factor 2017 week 3 top 3 performances

Last night the overs and groups battled it out on George Michael week. The judges and mentors, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell were their to guide and support the contestants as the competition heats up.

Almost a year after George Michael passed away The X Factor show honoured the star with their themed live event. The contestants gave their all and below are the performances that I thought were the best.

3. Rak-Su – Faith by George Michael

Rak-Su have been performing their own material up until now, which is why seeing them perform a cover version was anticipated. The boys did a great arrangement of George Michael’s classic single and put their own spin on it. The end result was a fresh sounding track, which got the crowd dancing.

What the judges said: Louis thought every week they get better and better and that they would go bigger and bigger. Sharon added that she also enjoyed the performance whilst Simon

2. Matt Linnen – Careless Whisper

Matt started a little pitchy but recovered during the track’s chorus and really poured his soul out during the bridge. I adored his performance and was captivated throughout.

What the judges said: Simon thought it was by far the best performance he did so far. Sharon thought that the version was rocking but that she thought there was still some insecurities that need to be addressed. Mentor, Nicole thought he came out looking fearless and she knew how much he wants to win.

1. Kevin Davy White – Fast Love

Kevin’s version of George Michael’s hit song, Fast Love was captivating. His rendition felt heartfelt and peaked beautifully. I was gobsmacked and felt like I just rediscovered the song.

What the judges said: Simon said that it was by far the best performance of the night, Louis agreed and added that it was fantastic. Mentor, Nicole thought it was one of the best performances of the show had ever seen and said that it was haunting.

Unfortunately it was the end of the road for Jack & Joel who failed to impress the public.

The X Factor 2017 continues tonight on ITV at 7.20pm.
