Following their last nail-biting stunt, Volvo are at it again with The Hamster Stunt.
The Hook, which was unveiled in the past couple of weeks, saw a Volvo Truck suspended off a hook above water but this one is ever more jaw-dropping. The Hamster Stunt features Charlie, a tiny hamster, steering a 15-tonne Volvo FMX construction truck up a steep hill in a Spanish quarry.
āCharlie the hamster is our star! He demonstrated that he has the best strength, confidence and attitude to learning new ideasā, says animal trainer Grace Dickinson.
Charlie had undergone several weeks of training prior to the test and was chosen in a careful casting procedure. The driver seen with him in the stunt is Seon Rogers who has his feet on the pedals and uses a carrot to keep Charlie steering in the right direction.
āIt was a big challenge. The driver had to hold the carrot in just the right way so he could lead the hamster. If he held it too high or too low Charlie would lose interest,ā explains animal trainer Grace Dickinson
President of Volvo Trucks Claes Nilsson has confirmed that there will be more stunts throughout the autumn to showcase how powerful Volvo Trucks are.
