Pepsi Max install augmented reality bus shelter

Standing around waiting for a bus is a rather boring and often frustrating experience. However for their latest advertising campaign Pepsi Max have found a fantastic way to make your wait far more entertaining.

Recently they installed a special augmented reality bus shelter in London. The outside of the shelter looked like a normal Pepsi Max advert but people stood inside were treated to an all new experience. With the use of a hidden camera on the outside the shelter is able to project a live view of the street. So most of the time from inside the shelter this looks just like a normal window.

However it’s actually a video screen that they are then able to modify. This allows them to do all kinds of crazy tricks such as showing UFO’s in the sky, a tiger loose in the street, a monster breaking through the pavement to grab a pedestrian, a meteor strike and even an attack by a giant robot.

Seeing it in action is the best way to understand the stunt. This is made even better by seeing the reactions of people who were unaware of the screen when they saw it for the first time.
