Holus is a tabletop holographic platform that converts any digital content from a computer, tablet or smartphone into a 3D hologram. The product is being created by Canadian startup H+ Technology and is currently halfway through their Kickstarter campaign. The team had an initial goal of $50,000 CAD but this has already been smashed and the current total at time of writing has exceeded $250,000 CAD.
There are two versions of Holus planned – a home edition with two smart phone charging docks and a Holus Pro. Holus Pro includes an HDMI port and Software Development Kit tool for developers.
Holus has been created as a multi-use device and the team behind it expect it to be used in a variety environments. These include home entertainment, games, education and communication.
Holus is also capable of interaction allowing voice commands and third-party controllers. Already mentioned are Leap Motion and Emotiv Brain Sensor but more are sure to become compatible in the future.
