Later this week Regent’s Place Plaza is inviting Londoners to experience the modern sport of drone racing with a three day event commencing on 17th August. Each day will begin with guests trying out the controls and experiencing new ‘first person view’ technology (FPV) via a simulator, effectively putting them in the pilot seat of the drone whilst wearing special goggles. Guests will then have the rare opportunity to fly a real drone through an obstacle course, providing a great introduction to the sport.
Experts from the UK Drone Show will be on hand to give demonstrations of their piloting skills and fly an ‘autonomous’ drone which can be controlled through a smartphone app. Attendees will also have the chance to buy a drone to take home with them.
Located between London’s King’s Cross and Paddington, Regent’s Place is a busy work and social hub featuring a lively mix of retail, leisure and public space. The Drone Racing Experience is part of the Life Meets Tech series of innovative, interactive events which are taking place throughout the summer, exploring the future of technology.
The Drone Racing Experience is free to attend and will take place from 10am-6pm on Thursday 17th, Friday 18th and Saturday 19th August. Check out the official Regent’s Place website for more information.
