Riverdale 1×04 Chapter Four: The Last Picture Show preview

Archie’s (K.J. Apa) fling with Ms. Grundy (Sarah Habel) may not be all that secret for much longer after the events of the latest episode of Riverdale.

Trying to do the right thing, and keep Ms. Grundy out of it, Archie went to the principal and the police and told them he heard a gun shot on the morning of 4th July. After his confession, Archie told his father Fred (Luke Perry) what he’d done and found himself grounded.

Regardless Archie continued to sneak out of the house to help Josie (Ashleigh Murray) work on some songs for an upcoming performance at the school. Archie was told by his father that he couldn’t attend but he slipped out any way and watched from the balcony with Jughead (Cole Sprouse).

Jughead set to work on trying to find out who fired the shot heard on 4th July and it led him to the scouts who were out in the woods that day. It transpired that the Scoutmaster was the one who fired the shot during a training exercise. After questioning him, Jughead found out that the Scoutmaster had seen Ms. Grundy’s car and realised that Archie’s fling was about to exposed.

Meanwhile Veronica (Camila Mendes) was furious when she was slut-shamed by Chuck Clayton (Jordan Calloway) after they went on a date. Teaming up with Betty (Lili Reinhart), Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) and Ethel (Shannon Purser), she exposed a slut-shaming book that the football players used to keep a record of their conquests.

Veronica and Betty lured Chuck into a trap to get him to confess that nothing happened with Veronica, but Betty almost went too far and referred to herself by her sister’s name. Their efforts resulted in Chuck being kicked off the football team.

Elsewhere in the episode Cheryl was bailed by her parents after being questioned about her brother’s death, Betty restarted the school newspaper, and Fred built Archie a recording studio to work on his music.

The next episode of the season is Chapter Four: The Last Picture Show. When Jughead learns that an anonymous buyer has plans to tear down the local drive-in, he fights desperately to keep it open.
