The latest episode of Preacher shed some light on Jesse’s (Dominic Cooper) past.
Through a series of flashbacks we saw a young Jesse and his father John (Nathan Darrow) butting heads. It was John that sent Tulip (Ruth Negga) away when she was a child putting her into the care of the Department of Human Services. Following the incident Jesse wished his father dead and in a later flashback we saw the moment his father was killed in front of him, something he has always blamed himself for.
Elsewhere in the episode Sheriff Root (W. Earl Brown) raised concerns about his son Eugene (Ian Colletti) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) appealed to Jesse to help bring Eugene back.
Quincannon (Jackie Earle Haley) tried to force Jesse to sign over the rights to the church. Jesse refused so Quincannon led a team of bulldozers over to the church.
The next episode of the season is El Valero. In a fierce gun battle Jesse faces off against Quincannon and the Meat Men to protect his church, while Tulip tries to save a friend.
